Concert Band
It is said that Music is that elevated science which affects the passions by sound- a language of delightful sensation- more eloquent than words.
The Lu Lu Concert Band is the oldest band in all of Shrinedom, having been organized in 1891. For many years it was also one of the finest bands, but time and decline in Shrine membership have taken their toll. Our Band now consists of approximately 20 musicians. We provide music for parades, business meetings, ceremonials, the Circus and MASA Conventions. In addition, we play concerts at nursing homes and senior living facilities including the OES Masonic Home at Warminster and the Masonic Home and Lafayette Hill. We are always looking for musicians who can play well to join our group. Please contact Band President, Bennett Wartman (610)834-6015 or the Recorder's Office for details.
We also have an active social life as a unit, getting together for most of the other Lu Lu Units' social events, plus our own Christmas party. Our ladies (The Band Aides) attend our rehearsals and concerts, and in addition to providing beauty and charm, take care of the required "cake and coffee afterward" aspect of the meetings.
